Alternative Process - Photogram 

When I decided to do a photogram I was assuming it would be rather simple. I was very wrong I spent two days in the dark room playing with various objects I had found in both art  rooms such as tissue paper, my mascara that I found in my bag, some advil and soy beans that Sarah was so kind to let me have. I soon realized that a photogram was easy to do but so difficult to do well. 


I had been trying many ideas, such as bug, butterfly, and a pill addiction. For some reason all I wanted to do was an explosion I thought it would look really freaking cool, the largest explosion I would think of would be the terrorist attacks on the twin towers on september 11th 2001, 9/11. I quickly found a long forgotten piece of chalk and a plastic knife and started chopping away at it trying to make what I kept telling people was my "cocaine' - aka the explosion part of the photograph. As the buildings I used two pieces of film that was over exposed that I simply found lying around. I wanted to show the explosion and the impact. I love this photograph and it turned out much better then I have ever thought it would, I am very happy with it.

Mixed Lighting 

I adore this photograph of Danielle. I used natural lighting from the window behind her as well as the indoor lights that were in the hall way and flash. I had an f-stop of 4.5 and a shutter speed of 1/4. I really like the photograph because of the way the light makes her eyes look. Danielle has the prettiest eyes, and I love the way this photo makes them look so deep and wondering. I am very proud of this photograph.

Painting with light. 

Painting with light caused the biggest issues for me beacause it was always difficult to make new and original ideas. One of the first few thoughts I had was to do a crown (almost as if I am wearing the crown). I thought of this because my daddy always calls me and my sister princess one and princess two. He has always called me and my sister these nicknames becuase we are have our ocassional 'princess' moments (as all teenage girls do). I used a fifteen secoand exposure on a f-stop of 9. I really like the way it turned out, it reminds me of my father everytime I look at it - even though I deny that I am a princess.

I chose Olivia as my model (we have been best friends senice the good ole age of 5 months old, thus making this freindship almost 16 years long - crazy). I really liked this photograph because it is such a beautiful shot that was taken when she was giggling.  I used a strong ambient light and had a strong light on her hair making it look glosslier and shinnier (then it normally is).

One of my biggest struggles was not making Olivia look washed out she has quite fair skin and with all the harsh lighting it was difficult not making her look gostly pale. I really wanted her to look glowing and radiant.

This is my favourite picture of Olivia. She is showing her goofy side (that most people dont get the oppourinity to see). I really like the way the light catches in her eyes and makes them look as if they are glissening.
